A Wandering Heart

My husband and I went to Boulder yesterday to the Pearl Street Mall.  There is a store on Pearl Street called Bayleaf which sells European imports.  I wish I could live in this store.  Please visit with me.

What I wouldn't give to own the copper cookware!

I believe this is our table for two!

The bath items are to die for.

And of course a little bit of Italy.

The inspiration from the rustic brick to the colorful flowers and the romance of the candlelight makes me want to transform my home into something magical.  I think I must have a little bit of a wandering soul.  Now just where do I start?

Silly Stuff

I would love for my blog to be just total inspiration but there are days when I see things that just make me giggle.  And today is a day for giggles.

Isn't this just too many on a ballfield for baseball?

And then there's this dog.....

And I do have days like this!

New Inspiration

As most of you know I'm having an affair - a love affair with lace and ribbon.  I just can't seem to help myself when I see something beautiful, in a beautiful soft color, I just have to have it.  What will I do with it?  At this point it's anyone's guess.  I dream of making all kinds of things.  It's finding the time that I seem the least capable of accomplishing.  But within the last couple of days I've managed to gather quite the inspiration.

Aren't they just yummy?

And then I was on Pinterest again - that can be dangerous but inspiring as well.  Here's just a few of the photos that inspire me to create.  Wouldn't it be lovely to be at that table having tea and sketching a few new things to create?

Or sitting on this terrace dreaming of where to find the perfect French lace?

Or the smell of lavender and thinking of sachets?

And this church?  Well, need I say more?

And of course who could resist these shoes?  Aren't they just tres chic?
Now if I could just find the time - I've found the inspiration.

Hugs,

Karen

Valentine Update

I just had to share how wonderful my husband can be.  I posted yesterday that he came home with a dozen white roses for me for Valentine Day.  Well, I never counted them and never thought to.  But later in the evening he told me that when he was standing in the store looking at the flowers there was a young kid also looking.  All he wanted was a red rose - a single stem.  Apparently the white roses that my husband was looking at were 11 white roses with a red one in the middle to make 12.  He told the kid to wait, paid for the flowers and gave the kid the single red rose.  I guess the young guy was just tickled pink or should I say red?  And that makes my 11 white roses even more special.

Valentine's Day Tea

Today I hosted 3 of my friends for a Valentine tea.  As you can see each received a small handmade heart as a token of my friendship and wishes for Valentine's Day.  And I must say the cranberry orange scones were really good.

And then as a special treat my husband brought me a dozen long-stem white roses later in the day.  What a special guy he is.  Happy Valentine's Day!

Taking a Break

I was taking a break the other day from work.  I just needed to get inspired again and imagine "something else".  I turned to the internet and to Pinterest.  If you've never discovered Pinterest you might be missing something.  It's a pinboard where members can "pin" pictures of things they love.  It's fun to see what others are interested in.  Here are some photos, all from Pinterest, of things that I just love.

What a romantic girly bedroom - oh, to just crawl into this picture....

A little Dior

Oh, to play dress-up!

Love, love, love lace!!

And yummy pink - my favorite.

And then you just gotta have the pink heels to go with that dress!

So where do you look for inspiration?  What inspires you and gets your juices flowing?

Thinking Hearts

Welcome to February, the month we think of love and hearts.  And so I've been making hearts in what little spare time I have.  I've been using wool, fleece, vintage and new laces and trims as well as a vintage hankie.

Are you getting ready for Valentine's Day?

Hugs,

Karen
